My schedule for 2013 is filling up, but I wanted to offer an incentive for mothers-to-be to have some maternity photos done!  I know it’s hard to feel beautiful when you’re pregnant, but I am in awe when I see mommies-to-be!  Yes they’re usually tired, can barely reach to tie their shoes and probably want nothing more than a half gallon of ice cream or long bubble bath, but pregnancy is such an amazing thing and I would love to help you have some beautiful photos to show for it!

For a limited time, I am offering a FREE maternity session with every newborn session! Maternity sessions typically take place when you are 32-36 weeks along. Free session includes the session and 10 of your favorite photos from the session on CD, printable up to 8×10. These pictures will be great for documenting the pregnancy, making an album, or to put in your child’s baby book!

I loved taking pictures of this beautiful little girl!  She was an absolute angel and did so wonderful for her first photo session.   I loved her soft dark hair and her perfect little newborn lips.  Such a doll!

I was lucky enough to be able to witness the beautiful birth of sweet little Claire.  The pregnancy and birth process are so amazing, and it was an emotional thing to be able to be a part of and photograph this event.  Claire’s mom was such a champ during the labor and delivery… she definitely made the process look so easy!

I got to meet up with this cute family for a session in the snow while they were in town from a much warmer state.   They’ve got such a cute, sweet little boy, and I loved watching them all interacting together.   Here are a few of my favorites!

Remember THIS gorgeous pregnant mama?  Well that little baby boy finally made his arrival and he’s the cutest thing ever!  He wanted to stay awake and party with us for some of the session, but when he was awake he was so quiet and content, and especially so happy to be close to his mom and dad.  I love seeing first-time parents with their newborn babies…. it’s amazing how much their world has changed, but of course it’s a change for the good!

This next shot ended up being one of my favorites from the session…. I think it’s because I love how  little baby is cuddled right into his daddy and you can tell he knows he’s safe and loved.  Love how daddy’s big hands hold him close, too, and you know they’re already such best buds.

I love when parents bring a few of their own things to add to the photos.  It makes them more personal and fun!  We used dad’s horse saddle for a few shots and I think we definitely have a new little cowboy in town.

I’m finally starting to get caught up with blogging sessions from this fall!  I’ve been able to spend time with so many great families, and this one was no exception.  I love seeing them every year for pictures and they’ve gotten so big and grown up!

I’m the midst of the typical super busy fall photo season…. lately I feel like I don’t even have time to sleep!  I have so many fun sessions to showcase here on the blog, but for right now I wanted to show off a great new product I am offering.  These are called Standout Mounts and are awesome!!  You do NOT need to frame these (they come ready to hang) so they lay flat on the wall.  Think how great these would look lined up next to each other or in a great wall display?  What I really love about these is that it takes away the need for a frame, so you don’t have the added cost/stress of finding the perfect frame(s).

I absolutely love photographing silhouettes!  There are so many fun variations and things you can do.  There are a few different ways to shoot these, but this is how I do it.  Also, I live where there are a lot of mountains, so that adds a bit of complication with finding a good location and setting up the shot, but it’s still easily doable.  First, you’re going to need to be low on the ground and your subjects are going to need to be higher than you.  You’re likely going to be lying sideways to them on your back and side.  For sunset silhouette shots you’ll want to get the shot all set up and ready to go when the sun’s getting low in the sky, but not setting yet… probably 10 or so minutes beforehand.  Have your settings ready, your subjects knowing where they’re going to stand and what they’re going to do, because once the sun starts to set it goes down FAST.  FAST!!  I can’t emphasize it enough!  You’ll have 1-2 minutes max to get the shot before the sun is down.

(Settings: ISO 100,  f/8.0, 1/200)
