a few changes are coming…

admin December 8th, 2009

Just a quick note that there will be a few changes coming to Heather Taylor Photography for 2010.  I am very excited about them.  I still have some awesome new products that I will be showcasing over the next few months, and I will also be introducing new print/product packages, including a few digital packages!

There were also be a few slight changes to my current pricing, so if you’d like my 2009 pricing for a session in 2010, book before the end of the year!  I also still have some gift certificates available at 25% off that would make a great gift for others or even yourself!’

I also have a very cool contest coming up in January for ALL past clients.  I’m still working out a few of the details, but I’m so excited for it and will be sharing the info soon.

Here’s a recent pic of my little Allie… I can’t believe how big she’s getting now!  She will be 8 months old tomorrow.  *sniff*

Nesting!

admin April 3rd, 2009

As I’m coming to the end of my pregnancy, I’ve gone kinda crazy cleaning/organizing my house.  I’ve also been “nesting” and trying to organize my blog/website a bit better, as well, which is turning out to be a bit more satisfying since my two boys can’t mess those up as soon as I get them the way I want! ;)

I’ve added a few more pages to my blog to help aid in finding information.

Favorite Links  -A list of some of my favorite clothing/accessory shops that work well for sessions.  (Prepare to drool and “oooh” and “ahhhhh”)  :)

Availability -If you’re wanting a spring session, let me know ASAP, as I only have a few openings left!

Featured Products- Some fun products that I offer, and I have some amazing new things that I will be adding in the coming months!

Specials- Who doesn’t love specials?! :)

There have also been a few changes to my website, as well.

I haven’t shared a pic of my two monkeys in way too long, so here’s a recent one of the two of them.  They love to play in/on/around boxes, and one afternoon I found them in there all squished together and reading books.  They’re so excited for the arrival of their new baby sister!

Our little girl is scheduled to come next Thursday the 9th if she doesn’t come decide to come sooner!  We still don’t have a name picked out for her yet, so if anyone has any ideas, feel free to pass them along!  And prepare for lots of newborn/baby pics in the coming weeks- I’m so very excited to do photos and hope that she’s okay with all these grand plans I have for her- haha! :)

my family portrait

admin March 6th, 2009

Ok, so this isn’t your typical family portrait, but I wanted to share these cute little wooden dolls that my friend Heather made of my family.  We’ll need to add a little girl to this collection in about a month, but I love these and having them displayed.  Heather did such a great job on them, and the details are amazing!  She does all size families, and will even do pets, too!  If you’re interested in getting your own family in a mini version, check out her etsy shop here:  Wee-Me!

I’m baaaack!

admin May 27th, 2008

Thanks, everyone, for the well-wishes on the move! Things went great (well, as great as a move can go), and we’re glad to finally feel like we’ve got a hold on the un-packing thing. One thing we immediately noticed about this new town, is that it is SO WINDY!!!!!!! In Logan, “windy” was like 10mph, but that pales in comparison to here. I see a lot of kite-flying in our future!

I’m now caught up on emails about sessions and orders— if you haven’t heard from me, email me again or give me a call. I’ve found that some of my emails tend to get lost in cyberspace….

As far as scheduling, June is now booked, and there are 2 openings left in both July and August. I’m not scheduling anything past August right now.

Like my new blog banner? Little Eli and his parents were so great to work with! :)

Also be looking for updates on my website (www.heathertaylorphoto.com) I’ve got several images to rotate through and add, and I’ve been trying to update the slideshow on the homepage for a few weeks now and nothing has changed, so I think I’m going to need to have a little chat with my host’s customer service.

Finally, if you have questions or want to schedule a session, my new # is 801.794.0186.

***UTAH COUNTY RESIDENTS: As a celebration of my husband’s new job and our move to this new (*ahem* windy) county, I will be offering a discount… watch for details coming soon!

Fortune Telling!

admin May 8th, 2008

Ok, I am not the type of person to “believe” in this type of thing at all, but we found this to be a fun coincidence. :) My husband applied for a new job a few months ago that we were really excited for and hoping he would get. A month later they interviewed him (an interview that lasted 2 hours) and it went really, really well. So then the wait began to find out if he would get it. We waited a week, and nothing. Waited another week, and still didn’t hear anything. That weekend we got some Panda Express for dinner and this was the fortune in his fortune cookie:

Let me again say that I do not base my life or any decisions on these strips of paper, but we thought it was kinda funny (and hopefully not a mean coincidence… we’ve had enough of those over the last several months) and so we put it in a drawer and more or less forgot about it. A few days later, my husband got a call saying he got the job! We were shocked, but we’re very excited. So for once, that little fortune cookie turned out to be right! The guy that he is going to be replacing isn’t leaving until August so we didn’t think that we would be moving until July or even August. Turns out…. he’s starting at the end of the month. The last week has been extremely crazy trying to get things figured out with 2 “quick” trips to look for housing and get everything finalized. (And by quick, I mean all day trips and donating too much money to the gasoline company.) So…. in 13 days we will be moving to Utah County (Spanish Fork to be exact). We’re very excited and a bit nervous about this new chapter in our life, but we’re ready for it.

Now… how this relates to the photography end of everything! Of course with my luck (haha) we’re moving after a very booked May, and I’m so thankful for the clients who are understanding and we’re working to make things work. I’ve got several sessions scheduled throughout the summer that I will be coming up for, and I have 1-2 openings left per month for the rest of the summer. I’m currently not yet booking anything past August. If you’re in Cache Valley and would like a session when I come up for a visit, let me know ASAP. There is a small waiting list, but I’m sure we’ll be able to make it work if you’re interested. If you’re in Utah County and want a session, please let me know soon because I only book a limited amount of sessions per month. My family time is very important to me, and I really don’t want to turn people down so if you want a session, please contact me soon. And while on that subject, I really appreciate the interest and emails I’ve had regarding photographing weddings, but I don’t do them at this time. :) If you’d like, I would be more than happy to recommend some really amazing wedding photographers in Utah.

I’ve got some fun sessions to share and some sessions that I’m really excited about these next few weeks, so stay tuned for lots more! :)

Shout Out!

admin March 21st, 2008

I wanted to do a post and give a big shout-out to a few people!! (And let’s hope I get all these links to work the first try—- it’s kinda late right now, so don’t count on it- haha!)

First…. my dear friend Crystalyn is doing such an amazing act of service and I am just so impressed by her selflessness and bravery. CONGRATS again, Crys!!! You can read here story HERE.

Then there’s “Uncle Bobo” who’s been through quite the health issues the last several months and we’re so glad he’s feeling much better now!! If you’re interested, you can find their story HERE.

Then there’s my dear friend Liz that lives in California…. I am determined to someday finally meet her! She just had a sweet baby girl and is the most amazing designer. She’s recently just finished her baby’s first (digital) album which is definitely worth your time to check out HERE and it’s available for sale at her store, which can be found HERE. It’s even on sale right now- wahoo!! And seriously—- it makes it possible to do an entire 26 page album in just a few hours…. and all for only $10! Seriously, Liz ROCKS. However, if you want to take your chances and enter her contest to WIN an album, check out her blog HERE. All you have to do is leave a comment with your favorite happiness quote! In fact, you can even view her album right on her blog if you please! :)

Now I know that I have my blog set to be right-click disabled, which comes in handy 95% of the time because I really want to do all I can do protect my client’s photographs. However, I know that ends up being a big fat pain for times like this! I apologize and wish I could turn it off for just this one post.
SO here’s the url’s for the links above if you want to copy/paste:

And finally, I want to share a few short videos that me and my 4-year-old literally watch everyday because they are so stinkin cute and you can’t help but laugh!
Get ready to laugh…. and not just a little giggle…. I’m talking belly laugh!

and this one is adorable too…..

And finally, I want to leave with a preview of a post from a session…. this family was so, SO sweet and I love this photograph:

My new website!

admin March 7th, 2008

Yahoo!! After a few years of portfolio building and way too many months of working on this website, it’s finally done!! There are still a few things I need to tweak, but for the most part it’s complete. A little note about the site- all the galleries are designed to be a slidshow, but that feature can be turned off by hitting the pause button that’s located above the thumbnails.

I wanted to say I truly appreciate everyone that has asked me to do photos for you. I’ve loved this whole process, and I’m so excited for what’s ahead! I also wanted to say a very sincere thank you to everyone that has given me referrals and who as me listed on your blogs!

One of the things I had the hardest time with on this site was narrowing down my favorites images to decide what to showcase. There was no way I could put them all on, so I’m planning to rotate through some of the photographs as time goes by.

And finally, here it is!!

One of my favorite things about Easter time….

I seriously get so giddy when I see the Starburst Jellybeans hit the shelves! I can’t stand the regular jellybeans, but these ones are soooo good! :)

Roughly 2,190 days ago…

admin February 8th, 2008

6 years ago today my sweetie and I were married on a cloudy, snow-covered day… just like it is outside today. For your benefit, I’m not going to get all mushy here (haha), but I will say it’s been a wonderful six years, and I know I’m so lucky to have him! Happy Anniversary honey!

Grab a few tissues…

admin January 27th, 2008

I recently found out that I was accepted to join a group of photographers as part of an organization called “Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep.” For those who aren’t familiar with it, it’s an organization of photographers from all over that donate their time and talent to families that have either lost their baby, or who only have a short time left with them.
I first heard about it about a year ago, and it stirred up all sorts of emotions in me and I thought there was no way I could ever do it, and I pushed the thoughts away. About a month ago I got an email from the area coordinator for Northern Utah asking if I would consider being a part of the organization. Those emotions returned, but after lots of thinking about it and asking her a million questions, I decided that if it were me in the parent’s position, I know I would want these photographs to honor and cherish my precious baby. When parents should be experiencing joy, they are instead having their heart broken in pieces, and the very least I can do is to provide this service. I’m sure it will be both incredibly emotionally challenging, yet very rewarding. Even though I haven’t done a session yet, it’s already made me give my boys several extra hugs and kisses!

There was recently an article in the Salt Lake Tribune about NILMDTS featuring a fellow Utah photographer, Julie Williams. It’s an incredibly beautiful and touching article.
Article
And an equally touching video: Video

And some more information on the foundation:

Impressions of the Heart

For the other photographers out there…. this is a service that is unfortunately needed everywhere. If you’re interested or want more information, check out the NILMDTS website.

…..and I don’t want to leave on a completely sad note, so here is something wonderful about childhood from a few weeks ago… the sheer awe of a complete near-blizzard going on outside!

Merry Christmas!

admin December 24th, 2007

One of the things that’s quickly becoming a favorite at Christmastime is grandpa’s trains. He’s been collecting them over the last few years, and it’s the neatest thing and my boys just love them! New this year is a snow-covered mountain with a tunnel running through it that he made, along with some help from my sister-in-law & brother-in-law. It is incredible to see it in person… the pictures really don’t do it justice! There’s even a little sledder going down the hill!

I also wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas! I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday!
I ended up doing 2 different cards this year. I wanted something different for my photos, and I figured that if my boys had cookies in their hands they wouldn’t be ripping their santa hats off and/or running away! They both looked at me like I was crazy when I gave them a plate full of cookies, but they sure had fun!

And finally, I leave you with something pretty amazing. I know there a lot of these types of videos, but this guy has made it into an art! And as an added bonus, he’s even from Utah! :)

So proud!

admin December 21st, 2007

I’m so proud of my sweet husband. After 6 long years of going to school, last week he graduated with his Masters of Science degree in Economics. He’s worked so hard and had such a great attitude, and even finished off his last semester with a 4.0!

We’ve been together since our first semesters in college, and now we are so ready to move on from student life. But since then, we’ve:
Been married almost 6 years
I finished my Bachelor’s in 2005
He finished his Bachelor’s in 2006
Had 2 kids, 2 fish, 3 cars, 5 apartments, and paid tuition for the last time! (Yay!!!!!)

His degree is actually in Regional & Community Economic Development , and we’re still doing the job hunt thing (it’s no fun), so if anyone happens to know of any jobs, let me know! :)

And an extra thanks to all our friends and family… we really appreciate all your support, love, and encouragement!

Here’s a quick shot from the big day. I promise he really was excited (he couldn’t stop smiling all weekend, in fact), but it probably would have been easier to express had it been warmer than 20 degrees!
