What to Expect

Here are some tips on what to expect from your photography session!  You can also check out this post for more Frequently Asked Questions!

Before your session we will discuss clothing selection, location, and needs for your photos.  The session fee and pre-session form/contract are due at booking to reserve your spot, and both are taken care of online.   I’m a strong believer in good communication, so I will be periodically checking in with you prior to your session.  The majority of communication from me will be via email, but I’m happy to talk on the phone and text with you, as well!

You can expect me to show up about 10 minutes before our scheduled time. I allow time at the beginning of each session for me to get to know your family and for your family to become comfortable with me. During the session I aim to make it as laid back and comfortable as possible! I know it’s not realistic for kids to behave perfectly all the time, and that’s totally ok! I will do what I can to keep them involved with the session, and my goal is for them to have a good experience, too. We will be silly and play games, and sometimes I’ll take school- aged and older kids slightly away from the group for their individual photos, as they tend to relax a bit more that way. I also value your input during the session, so if you have a suggestion please let me know… I want you to be a part of the process! I also have a fun “treasure box” that has little toys and goodies for the kids (and dads, haha!) as a reward at the end of the session.

Within two weeks of your session, a password protected online gallery will be available for you to view your edited and re-touched photographs.  Feel free to pass along the link and password to family and friends- they’re welcome to view and order prints, as well.  My computer monitor is specifically calibrated to my professional print lab, so please keep in mind that sometimes coloring in photos can vary from screen to screen.  Your gallery will be available to you for two weeks, after which your order is due.  The fee to re-host your gallery after the two weeks is $25/week.  Payment for purchases is due at the time of the order.  You can expect to receive your order within 2 weeks, though some specialty items take a bit longer.  Your photographs will be kept on file for one year in case you would like to order more later.

I understand that life (and the weather and sickness) can be unpredictable!  If you are unable to keep our appointment, please let me know as soon as possible to reschedule and avoid losing your session fee.  The session fee is non-refundable, but can be used towards a future session if we need to reschedule.
